Matthew Carlson (b. 1990) is an artist based in Brooklyn, NY. His work, which explores distance, separation, unreliable memory and the nature of time in text, sound, and moving image, has been exhibited at institutions including the Filmmakers’ Cooperative, Brooklyn Academy of Music and the Robert Rauschenberg Gallery. From 2016-2020, he co-curated the Boulevard Film Festival in Queens, NY, and he has written and produced videos and images for Artforum, Brooklyn Rail, Chromavision, and the Metropolitan Opera. He holds a BFA (Film/Video) from Pratt Institute.
